Hollandaise Sauce.
OK, I haven't been around lately, too busy on the ambulance corps! So I decided I hadn't had eggs benedict lately and thought I would give it a go. Not an English muffin anywhere though! Even tried a bakery. Ended up with toasted 'Slimbos' a Pat the Baker concoction. they were already cut across, so toaster friendly. Bought some ready made Hollandaise sauce. First mistake. My excuse was that it was Schwartz brand - suppliers of herbs and spices to the world. All of them excellent. So, thought I, surely their hollandaise would be as beautiful, succulent, thick and enjoyable. Wrong! Watery and flavourless. Awful. Had to use a spoon, but could have used a straw to eat it. Always disappointed by sauces. Lidl had, I don't know if they still have, some small cartons of sauces. Their hollandaise was as hollandaise in cartons ought to be. Pretty darn good. Not as good as fresh but hey, who wants to slave making a sauce in the mornings. Not me, I'm a morning hater! Ah well. Tomorrow? Haven't an idea until I wake up - shakshuka? Falafels? Curry? Ideas?
